Class tuition does not include a pass to the show.  You must buy a show pass to attend class.

SUPPLIES:

You may have a preference to your own sketchbook and supplies and are welcome to bring them. Besides the supplies that you bring, note that some are included with the workshop and some will be provided for your use to borrow.

o SKETCHBOOK of your choice. Select a sketchbook with a paper that takes multi-media, suitable for watercolor and pen and ink. (A Drawing Pad will be included)
o FOUNTAIN PEN with water-soluble black ink (included)
o Sakura PIGMA MICRON PEN, waterproof black, no. 02 (included)
o PENCIL & ERASER
o Small set of WATERCOLORS (provided to borrow)
o WATER BRUSH, Fill the plastic barrel of this portable brush with water and paint anywhere. (provided)
o Optional: Watercolor Brush, round. No.6
o A few COLORED PENCILS or WATERCOLOR PENCILS
o GLUE STICK (provided)
o Small CRAFT SCISSOR (provided)

Beginners’ Guide to Beautiful Italic Handwriting

Does your handwriting need a makeover? This class will introduce you to cursive Italic writing with a flat nib. Born during the Renaissance, this handwriting style is making a comeback for its beauty, speed and elegance. Bring a 1.1mm nib or smaller in a calligraphy fountain pen or a fountain pen with the edges filed flat for line variation, and a pencil.

Art Journal: Explorations in Ink + Mixed Media

Drizzle…Scribble…Spray…Scrape…Scrawl….Dive into the colorful world of abstract mark-making using #tracibautistaCOLOR inks and mixed media! Explore creative ways to use a variety of found and handmade tools including stencils, dip pens and folded pens. You’ll create a few handmade tools, then experiment with building layers of marks with inks and various media like water-soluble Inktense pencils, pastels and wax resist crayons. The painted pages will then be bound into a simple handmade art journal.

Are you ready to step up your snail mail game?  Learn how to dress up your mail with some fun hand lettering, vintage postage, washi tape, wax seals, and more!

Copperplate Calligraphy

INKY FLORALS + freestyle letters

Paint colorful floral designs and explore freestyle lettering. In this workshop, we’ll talk about gathering inspiration and you will learn a plethora of ways to paint bright and expressive florals and a freestyle lettering exemplar using a #tracibautistaCOLOR inks + various watermedia materials. These creative exercises are great for hand painted cards/invitations, stationary or sketchbook/art journal inspiration.

{Please note this is not a traditional “calligraphy” class. It’s a mixed media class with a touch of hand painted letters. I teach how to use use simple techniques and flourishes to enhance your personal handwriting. You do not need to have any prior calligraphy/lettering experience.}
